On mobile, there's no room for anything that isn't essential. We design app interfaces for thumbs, glances, and short attention, where every element has to earn the space it takes.
01The constraints are the design
A phone gives you a screen the size of a hand, held one-handed, on the move, competing with every notification and every other app for a few seconds of attention. That's not a limitation to work around. It's the brief.
Mobile design is mostly about what you leave out. On a desktop you can afford a busy screen; the pointer is precise and the space is generous. On a phone, every extra element pushes something important out of reach or out of view. The discipline is deciding what this screen is for and cutting everything that isn't that.
We design mobile interfaces the way you'd pack for a trip with one small bag. What does the user actually need on this screen, right now, to do the one thing they came to do? Everything else waits for the next screen, hides behind a tap, or doesn't exist. The result feels light not because it's empty, but because nothing on it is wasted.
02Design for the thumb, not the cursor
Most people use their phone with one hand and one thumb. That single fact should shape the whole layout, and it usually doesn't.
The thumb has a comfortable reach, a curved zone across the lower and middle of the screen. The top corners are a stretch, especially on the large phones people actually carry. So primary actions belong within thumb reach, at the bottom, where they're easy to hit without shifting your grip. Destructive or rare actions belong out of the easy zone, so they're harder to trigger by accident. A back button in the top-left corner looks tidy and fights the hand holding the phone.
Touch targets have to be generously sized and spaced, because a fingertip is blunt and imprecise compared to a cursor. Buttons crammed together produce mis-taps, and mis-taps produce frustration. On a phone, ergonomics is design.
03Attention comes in seconds, not minutes
People use apps in gaps, a queue, a lift, a pause between things. The interface has to make its point immediately and let someone act without a run-up. We design screens that state where you are and what you can do at a glance, so a five-second session is enough to get something done.
04iOS and Android are different places. We respect both.
An app that ignores platform conventions feels subtly wrong, even to users who couldn't tell you why. The two platforms have their own patterns for navigation, gestures, typography, and controls, and users carry deep expectations from every other app they use.
On iOS, back is a swipe from the left edge and a chevron at the top. Navigation often lives in a bottom tab bar. On Android, there's the system back gesture and button, a different navigation model, and Material's approach to elevation and components. Push a hard-edged iOS layout onto Android untouched and it reads as a port, not an app.
We design so each platform feels native without maintaining two entirely separate products. The brand and the core experience stay consistent; the platform-specific details, navigation, gestures, system controls, typography, follow each platform's rules. Users shouldn't have to relearn how a phone works just because they opened your app.
05The first run decides whether there's a second
Most app abandonment happens in the first session. Someone downloads, opens, hits friction, and leaves. Onboarding and the first-run experience are where you win or lose the user, and they're routinely treated as an afterthought.
The instinct is to explain the whole app up front with a carousel of feature slides. Almost nobody reads them. The stronger approach is to get the user to their first small success as fast as possible, one real action that shows them why they're here. Explanation can wait; a person who has already done something useful is far more forgiving of learning the rest as they go.
We design onboarding that asks for as little as possible before delivering value. Defer the sign-up wall until there's a reason to sign up. Defer permission requests until the moment they make sense. Fill empty first-run screens with a clear next step instead of a blank void.
06Performance is a design decision
A beautiful interface that feels slow is a slow interface. On mobile, speed is part of the design, and choices made in the design phase decide how fast the app can ever be.
We design with performance in mind: skeleton and loading states so a screen shows structure instantly instead of a spinner; images sized and prioritised so they don't stall the view; motion that's quick and purposeful rather than long and indulgent; and layouts that render something useful immediately, then fill in.
We also design for the reality of Indian networks and devices, variable connectivity and a wide range of hardware. An interface that assumes fast data and a flagship phone will fail a large part of its audience. We design for the conditions people actually use apps in, so the experience holds up on a mid-range phone on a patchy connection.

Do we need separate designs for iOS and Android?
You need one product with platform-appropriate details, not two different apps. The brand, the core flows, and the overall experience stay consistent across both. What changes is the platform-specific layer, navigation patterns, gestures, system controls, and typography, so each version feels native rather than ported. We design both variants from a shared foundation, which keeps them coherent and the cost far lower than two apps.
Can you redesign our existing app instead of starting fresh?
Yes, and it's often the more valuable engagement. We audit your current app on real devices to find where users actually struggle, hard-to-reach actions, confusing navigation, a first-run experience that loses people. Will the design work on low-end phones and slow connections?
That's a core part of how we design, not an afterthought. We design loading and skeleton states so screens feel instant, keep imagery and motion light, and make sure something useful renders before all the data arrives. We test on mid-range hardware and constrained connections, because that reflects how much of the Indian market actually uses apps.
